Life Satisfaction Test | Assess how you truly feel about your life right now

1. What Is Life Satisfaction?

Life Satisfaction is an important part of subjective well-being; it refers to an individual's cognitive evaluation of their overall quality of life, rather than momentary mood swings. It is not 'am I happy right now', but 'am I satisfied with my current life'.

Proposed by psychologist Diener, thesubjective well-being theoryholds that life satisfaction consists of three core elements:

  • Cognitive evaluation: an overall judgment of life
  • Positive affect: the frequency of pleasant experiences in life
  • Negative affect: the frequency of unpleasant experiences in life

This test mainly focuses oncognitive evaluation as a dimension, helping you view your life situation more rationally.

2. What Factors Affect Life Satisfaction?

According to Seligman'sPERMA well-being theory, long-term life satisfaction is usually closely related to the following five dimensions:

  • P (Positive Emotion): positive emotional experiences
  • E (Engagement): Engagement and flow experience
  • R (Relationships): Good interpersonal relationships
  • M (Meaning): A sense of meaning in life
  • A (Accomplishment): A sense of achievement and goal attainment

This test will explore these dimensions to help you discover what you are already doing well, and where you still have room for improvement.

III. The Five Dimensions of This Test

Based on the core ideas of PERMA theory and the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), this test contains 18 questions covering the following five dimensions:

  • Emotions and Daily Experience: Do you often feel calm, pleased, or satisfied?
  • Engagement and Focus: Can you enter a state of 'flow' in your work, interests, or activities?
  • Relationships and Social Support: Do you feel understood and supported in your relationships?
  • Meaning and Sense of Value: Do you feel that your life has direction and value?
  • Achievement and Sense of Control: Are you satisfied with your choices and your progress?

4. Purpose and Target Audience of the Test

This test is suitable for people who want to understand their current state of life and improve their happiness, especially:

  • People who feel that 'life is okay, but something always seems to be missing'
  • People who are in a transition period in their career or stage of life
  • People who want to improve their happiness and optimize their quality of life
  • People who are interested in positive psychology and self-growth

5. How the Scoring Works

Each question is scored 1-5, from 'strongly disagree' to 'strongly agree.' The system will evaluate your life satisfaction type based on your scores across the five dimensions, and provide targeted suggestions for improvement.
