Waiting for Love Test | Identify your emotional initiation pattern and foresee what your love will look like
I. Theoretical Basis: Attachment Theory and Waiting Style
This test is based on the attachment theory of the psychologist John Bowlby, as well as later research on 'adult attachment styles'. Attachment theory holds that the 'internal working models' formed through early interactions with caregivers profoundly shape how intimate relationships are built and maintained in adulthood. Especially in the stage of 'waiting for love' - the ambiguous period or the single period between meeting someone and confirming a relationship - people display strikingly different emotional, cognitive and behavioral patterns.
Building on this, the 'relationship initiation model' proposed by the psychologists Israel and Stafford holds that an individual's 'waiting attitude' when a relationship is not yet defined is a key variable in predicting the quality of future relationships. We extended this concept to form the core framework of this test: 'Waiting Style' - whether, when facing potential love, you take the initiative, wait passively, feel anxious, or observe calmly.
Your waiting style determines what kind of person you attract and what kind of relationship you walk into.
II. The Four Core Dimensions of the Test
This test assesses your 'waiting style' from four angles, across 18 items in total:
- Emotional Initiation Mode: Do you tend to actively move a relationship forward, or do you wait for the other person to take the first step? This determines how quickly a relationship happens and who leads it.
- Uncertainty Tolerance: When a relationship is not yet defined, can you stay calm? This determines whether you attract someone candid and direct or someone skilled at playing with ambiguity.
- Self-Worth Association: Do you easily link the other person's responses to your self-worth? This determines whether you attract a partner who respects you or one who easily pulls you into PUA or emotional manipulation.
- Idealization Tendency: Do you over-idealize a potential partner, or can you keep a realistic perspective? This determines whether you experience 'shattered illusions' or 'surprising discoveries'.
III. Purpose of the Test and Who It Is For
This test is suited to the following people:
- Those who are single or in an ambiguous phase and want to understand why they always attract a certain type of person
- Those who get anxious while waiting for a response and want to improve their emotional patterns
- Those who want to predict the likely shape of their next relationship (passionate, calm, dramatic, and so on)
- Those who are interested in the psychology of intimate relationships and want to understand themselves more deeply
Through the test, you will discover your 'waiting style code', see a portrait of the relationship you are about to attract, and learn how to refine your emotional strategy.
IV. How Scoring Works
Each item is scored from 1 to 5, from 'never / not at all true' to 'always / very true'. Based on your scores across the four dimensions, the system will classify you as one of 8 waiting styles and generate a matching relationship prediction and growth advice.
