Unplanned Pregnancy Risk Assessment | Based on the Risk Perception and Relationship Decision Model
I. What Is Unplanned Pregnancy Risk?
Unplanned pregnancy risk refers to the possibility of an unintended pregnancy while unmarried. It involves not only the physiological aspect of contraception, but is also closely related to psychosocial factors such as personal risk perception, sexual health knowledge, relationship decision patterns, emotional attachment style, and life planning ability.
The level of risk reflects a person's, in an intimate relationship:
- Clarity of awareness of the consequences of sexual behavior
- Decision-making ability in impulsive situations
- Ability to communicate about safe sex with a partner
- Awareness of planning for one's own future
II. Theoretical Basis: The Theory of Planned Behavior and Risk Perception
This test is designed based on the following in psychology:Theory of Planned Behaviorandthe Risk Perception Model.
Theory of Planned Behaviorholds that behavior is determined by behavioral intention, which in turn is affected by three factors: attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. In sexual decision-making, this is reflected as:
- Attitude: Whether you view safe sex positively or negatively
- Subjective Norms: What you perceive important others (partner, friends) expect regarding safe sex
- Perceived Behavioral Control: Your degree of confidence that you can practice safe sex
Risk Perception Modelemphasizes that whether people take protective behavior depends on their assessment of risk and their awareness of its severity. When people underestimate risk or overestimate their ability to control it, risky behavior is more likely to occur.
III. Assessment Dimensions of This Test
This test assesses the following four psychological dimensions, with 18 questions in total:
- Risk Perception and Assessment: How do you assess the risk of unintended pregnancy and its consequences? Do you tend to underestimate the likelihood or severity?
- Impulse Control and Situational Decision-Making: Under emotional impulse or in specific situations (such as the influence of alcohol or emotional swings), what is your ability to keep making rational decisions and take protective measures?
- Relationship Communication and Power Dynamics: Can you communicate openly and effectively with your partner about safe sex? In the relationship, can you hold on to your own safety boundaries?
- Future Planning and Sense of Responsibility: Do you have a clear plan for your future life? Have you considered the long-term responsibilities and impacts that sexual behavior may bring?
IV. Meaning and Notes of the Test
Test purpose:This test aims to help you understand your risk perception patterns and decision-making traits in intimate relationships, and raise your awareness of sexual health issues, rather than predict the probability of specific events.
Who it's for:It suits all adults who are in or may enter an intimate relationship; whether or not you currently have a partner, you can take the test to understand your risk tendencies.
Important Notes:
- This test is a psychological tendency assessment and cannot replace medical advice or actual contraceptive measures
- The results reflect relative tendencies, not absolute probabilities
- Whatever the results, safe sex is an important practice for protecting the health of both sides
- If you have specific health concerns, please consult a medical professional
V. Scoring Method and Result Types
Each question is scored on a 5-point Likert scale, from "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree." The system will calculate your scores across the four dimensions and, based on the total score and dimension characteristics, give you your risk tendency type and targeted advice.
Result types include:
- Prudent Planner Type: High risk awareness and strong planning ability
- Situation-Dependent Type: Decisions are easily influenced by the situation and emotions
- Relationship-Compromising Type: Tends to give in within a relationship, and may neglect their own safety needs
- Optimistic Underestimator Type: Tends to underestimate risk and overestimate their control
