Social Popularity Test | Explore Your Attractiveness and Social Patterns in Groups
1. What Is Social Popularity?
Social popularity does not simply mean the number of friends or being liked by everyone; it is the combined reflection of the positive acceptance, trust, and influence a person gains within a social network. It is not only about whether you fit in, but about whether you are needed, appreciated, and remembered in a group.
Psychologists divide popularity into two categories: 'Sociometric Popularity' - being deeply accepted by a small circle for being sincere, reliable, and understanding; and'Perceived Popularity' - standing out in a large group for being outgoing, humorous, and having leadership. This test looks at both traits.
2. Theoretical Basis: Sociometric Theory and the Social Skills Model
This test is mainly based onSociometric Theoryand and the Multidimensional Social Skills Model.
- Sociometric Theoryholds that an individual's status in a group depends on how well they meet others' social needs, such as emotional support, information sharing, and conflict mediation.
- The Multidimensional Social Skills Modelpoints out that popularity is made up of four core dimensions: affinity, expressiveness, emotional awareness, and reciprocal behavior.
3. The Four Core Dimensions of This Test
Based on the above theories, we break social popularity down into four observable behavioral dimensions, with 18 questions in total:
- Affinity and Warmth: Do you make people feel relaxed, safe, and willing to come closer? This shows in your facial expressions, tone of voice, and the warmth with which you treat others.
- Expression and Humor: Can you naturally start topics and liven up the atmosphere, or defuse awkwardness with humor at the right moment?
- Listening and Empathy: Do you truly hear what others say, and give an appropriate response rather than rushing to express yourself?
- Reciprocity and Supportive Behavior: Are you willing to help others proactively, and keep a balance between giving and receiving in relationships?
4. Purpose and Target Audience
This test is for anyone who wants to improve the quality of their relationships and understand their own social patterns, especially:
- People who feel invisible in groups or find it hard to fit into new environments
- People who want to improve workplace collaboration, team leadership, or client relationships
- People who want to improve their intimate relationships, friendships, or family communication
- People interested in social psychology and cultivating personal charm
5. Scoring
Each question is scored 1-5, from 'not true at all' to 'very true'. The system calculates your scores on the four dimensions separately, and based on the total score and the combination of dimensions, gives your social personality type and targeted improvement advice.
