Have You Psychologically Weaned? Personality Independence Assessment
1. What Is Personality Independence?
Personality independence is not about refusing help or living as a hermit; it is an inner "self-support" - the ability to soothe yourself when emotions fluctuate, to trust your judgment when facing choices, and to keep boundaries with others that are clear yet flexible.
Psychological "weaning" means that you no longer need others' constant affirmation to prove that you deserve to exist, and you no longer give up your self out of fear of losing fusion.
2. Independence Is a Continuous Spectrum
The vast majority of people are neither absolutely independent nor absolutely dependent, but show different patterns in different situations. This assessment maps your independence profile across six core dimensions:
- Emotional Autonomy: Can you soothe yourself, or must you rely on others for emotional support?
- Cognitive Confidence: Are you easily swayed to overturn your own judgment when others question it?
- Decision-Making Independence: When making major decisions, are you ultimately the one who bears psychological responsibility?
- Boundary Clarity: Can you say "no" gently yet firmly, and do you take on too much?
- Comfort with Solitude: When alone, do you feel fulfilled, or empty and anxious?
- Self in Relationships: In intimate relationships, do you still keep personal space and pursuits?
3. The Hidden Costs of Not Being Psychologically Weaned
Relying on others' evaluations to define your self-worth over the long term will repeatedly trap you in the following at work, in intimate relationships, and in personal growth: excessive people-pleasing, decision fatigue, fear of conflict, and self-collapse after rejection. Independence is not coldness; it allows you to give truly as an equal in relationships, rather than seeking security from others.
4. Assessment Logic and Target Audience
This test contains 18 items covering three levels: emotion, cognition, and behavior. Each item is scored 1-5, from "highly dependent" to "highly autonomous." The result will show your overall independence stage and point out which dimension you have not yet fully "weaned" in.
Suitable for:
- People who often feel "without others' approval, I'm nothing"
- People who unconsciously compromise and lose their personal boundaries in relationships
- People who fear being alone and must fill their time with socializing
- People who want to test whether they've truly grown up
5. Overview of Result Types
Based on your total score and dimension tendencies, you will receive one of the following six types: The Merging Dependent Type, the Anxious Attachment Type, the Counter-Dependent Fortress Type, the Wavering Explorer Type, the Gentle Independent Type, and the Integrated Autonomous Type. Each type comes with specific scenario descriptions and a growth path.
