Desire Index Assessment | Is the Fire Inside You a Driving Force or an Obsession?
I. What Is the Desire Index?
Desire is the fuel that drives us forward, but it can also be a flame that burns away our peace. The Desire Index is not a measure of 'how much you want', but a way to help you see: what you long for, whether your relationship with that longing is cooperative or adversarial, and whether this longing brings you genuine vitality.
This test breaks down your desire structure at four levels:
- Strength of longing - how urgently you want to obtain it
- Tendency toward obsession - whether you attack yourself when you cannot get it
- Capacity for delayed gratification - whether you are willing to wait for a bigger goal
- Degree of internalized value - whether this desire was planted by the outside world or truly endorsed from within
II. How Do You Tell 'Longing' from 'Obsession'?
A healthy desire is like breathing: you make an effort, but you do not suffocate just because you cannot get it for now; an unhealthy obsession is like a rope: the more you struggle, the tighter it binds.
- Longingbrings drive to act,Obsessionbrings anxiety
- Longinglets you rest,Obsessiondoes not allow you to fail
- Longingenjoys the process,Obsessionfixates only on results
- Longingcan be adjusted,Obsessionmust be achieved
III. The Four Core Dimensions of This Test
16 questions in total, charting your desire map across four profiles:
- Longing intensity - how strong is the drive inside you? A faint glimmer or a blazing fire?
- Obsession tendency - when a goal is unmet, is your reaction reflection or self-denial?
- Delayed gratification - can you endure short-term scarcity for long-term gain?
- Internalized value - is your goal 'I want to do it' or 'I feel I should do it'?
IV. This Is for You If
- You often feel 'I want a lot, but I do not know why I want it'
- You have been fixated on a goal for a long time, to the point of disrupting your daily rhythm
- You cannot tell whether you are chasing a dream or filling some kind of void
- You want to clarify your true inner motives and reduce internal friction
V. Scoring Method
Each question is scored 1-5, from 'strongly disagree' to 'strongly agree'. The system calculates the tendency in each of the four dimensions separately, then generates your desire type and adjustment suggestions from the combination of dimensions, helping you build a clearer relationship with your desires.
