Change Readiness Test | Are You Ready to Embrace Change?
1. What Is Change Readiness?
Change Readiness refers to the degree to which a person is psychologically prepared to accept, adapt to, and drive change when facing it in life, work, or personal growth.
It is not just about whether you want to change, but whether you can, dare to, and know how to change. Many people stay at the stage of 'I know I should change' yet can never take the first step - fundamentally because their change readiness is insufficient.
2. Theoretical Basis: The Transtheoretical Model (TTM)
This test is based on the Transtheoretical Model (TTM). The theory holds that behavior change is not a single moment but a gradual process, and that individuals usually go through the following six stages:
- Precontemplation Stage: not yet aware of the problem, with no intention to change
- Contemplation Stage: aware of the problem and starting to consider change
- Preparation Stage: has made up their mind and started planning
- Action Stage: actively carrying out specific change behaviors
- Maintenance Stage: consolidating results and preventing relapse
- Termination Stage: change has become internalized as a habit, no longer requiring deliberate effort
In addition, TTM emphasizes three core elements: Self-Efficacy (whether you have confidence that you can do it), Decisional Balance (weighing the pros and cons of change), and Processes of Change (the strategies and techniques used).
3. The Five Assessment Dimensions of This Test
Combining TTM theory with real-life scenarios, this test assesses your change readiness across five dimensions, with 18 questions in total:
- Awareness Level: Do you clearly recognize the problems in your current situation and the need for change?
- Emotional Conflict Level: The degree of tug-of-war between the anxiety, fear, and anticipation that change brings
- Self-Efficacy Belief: How strong is your confidence in your ability to change successfully?
- Perceived Support Environment: Whether the external support and resources you perceive are sufficient
- Intention to Act: Are you willing to turn ideas into concrete, actionable plans?
4. Purpose and Target Audience
This test is for people who are considering or facing change, and is especially suited to:
- People who want to change their habits, career, or lifestyle but keep putting it off
- People who repeatedly try to change, give up easily, and fall into a cycle
- People at a turning point in life who are unsure whether to make a major decision
- People who want to boost their self-motivation and adaptability
5. Scoring and Interpretation of Results
Each question is scored 1-5, from 'strongly disagree' to 'strongly agree'. Based on your scores on the five dimensions, the system will assess which stage of change you are currently in, and give you targeted action advice.
