Intuition Strength Test | Discover Your Hidden Perceptual Gifts

1. What Is Intuition?

Intuition is the ability to grasp the key to a problem or make a judgment without conscious reasoning. It usually shows up as 'a flash of insight,' a 'sixth sense,' or 'just knowing what to do.' Unlike slow thinking that requires logical analysis, intuition draws on the experience, patterns, and emotional markers stored in the brain to deliver an answer in an instant.

Intuition plays an important role in daily life, career decisions, and even creative work. Some people are gifted at reading others, some are unusually alert to danger, some have ideas gushing like a spring, and some perceive space and position with extraordinary sensitivity. Understanding your intuitive strengths can help you make better use of your gifts.

2. Related Theory: Daniel Kahneman's Dual-System Thinking

Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman proposed the dual-system model of thinking in Thinking, Fast and Slow:

  • System 1 (fast thinking): automatic, intuitive, and effortless, such as sensing danger the moment you see an angry face.
  • System 2 (slow thinking): requires attention, logic, and calculation, such as solving a complex math problem.

Intuition is the core expression of System 1. But System 1 is not always right; it is influenced by experience, emotion, and cognitive biases. Drawing on research in dual-system theory about classifying intuition, and on psychological discussions of 'domains of intuitive strength,' this test divides intuition into four main directions: interpersonal intuition, risk intuition, creative intuition, and spatial intuition.

3. The Four Intuition Dimensions of This Test

Based on how cognitive psychology divides the domains of intuition, we designed 15 scenario questions to assess the strength of your intuition in the following four areas:

  • Interpersonal Intuition: skilled at reading others' emotions, judging where relationships are heading, quickly building trust, or spotting deception. Typical signs: you can sense who is lying and tell at a first meeting whether you will get along.
  • Risk Intuition: a keen sense for potential dangers, traps within opportunities, and financial or safety risks. Typical signs: you always feel a plan will go wrong and are proven right afterward; you become instantly alert to environments that feel 'off.'
  • Creative Intuition: able to form new links between seemingly unrelated things and instantly generate ideas or solutions. Typical signs: great ideas pop up while you shower; the moment you see an object, you imagine entirely new uses for it.
  • Spatial Intuition: quick judgment of direction, position, trajectories, and visual structure. Typical signs: you never get lost, remember a route after one glance at the map, and excel at jigsaw puzzles or assembling furniture.

4. Purpose and Intended Audience

This test aims to help you identify in which domain your intuition is strongest, so that you can:

  • Leverage your natural strengths in career choices (for example, interpersonal intuition suits HR and sales; spatial intuition suits design and surgery)
  • Understand your decision-making style and build confidence in your own judgment
  • Recognize where intuition may fail and consciously use logical analysis to compensate

It is suitable for anyone who wants to understand their cognitive style, improve decision quality, or explore career directions.

5. Scoring

Each question is scored 1-5, from 'not at all like me / almost never' to 'very much like me / always.' The system calculates your total on each of the four intuition dimensions (each has a different maximum); the dimension with the highest score is your dominant intuition type. If several dimensions score close together, you will receive a 'Composite Intuition Type' result along with corresponding growth tips.
